Finding herself jobless the day she returned from her honeymoon, Parsimonia owner/curator Beth Styles turned to her true passion — vintage — and opened an online vintage store in July 2010. Six months later, she and her husband moved from their newlywed nest in California to her hometown of St. Louis, Mo., where Beth immersed herself in the local indie craft scene.
A year and a half, lots of dreaming and loads of elbow grease after that, Beth launched St. Louis' first mobile vintage store out of a 1960 Holly travel trailer, stocking it with a curated collection of affordable vintage clothing, vintage accessories and vintage home decor. (We especially love vintage women's dresses, vintage linens and vintage glassware!)
Over the past year, Parsimonia has certainly stretched its St. Louis-based wings, participating in craft shows, festivals, farmers' markets and other celebrations, and even hosted one of its own: Spring Fling in the City, which was organized by Beth and held in May 2013 in North City's Crown Square. The year was topped off with the September opening of a vintage brick-and-mortar store at 3194 S. Grand in Tower Grove, and we can't wait to see what 2014 holds!
